Elite Shungite
Elite Shungite
Shungite is a black stone found only in Karelia, Russia. There are two or three types of Shungite, depending on the source, based on the stones' carbon content: Elite Shungite, Black, and Gray Shungite.
Elite or Noble Shungite is the highest quality Shungite. It contains over 90% of carbon. It is a rare black stone with a silvery shiny appearance, and it's very fragile. Due to its high carbon content, this type of Shungite has the most powerful benefits in healing and EMF protection.

Shungite is technically not a crystal but a mineraloid (like amber, opal, or obsidian), due to its structure. But that doesn't make it any less powerful! Used for centuries, shungite has long been considered a stone for healing, with Peter the Great of Russia using it in his spa to purify water. Northwest Russia is actually where the largest and oldest source of shungite lies, with other deposits reported in Austria, India, Kazakhstan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Shungite is typically black but can range to a deep bronze color. It's opaque, but can have a shiny quality, making it look lustrous and metallic. The highest quality, or "elite shungite," is made up of at least 90% carbon, shiny in appearance, and recovered manually as opposed to through industrial mining. "Regular shungite" in industrially mined, matte black, and 30 to 50% carbon.
Elite Shungite naturally helps to neutralize harmful contaminants, purify water and air, provide powerful antioxidants, eliminates bad odor.
Each stone is unique and is shaped unlike any other. Some stones will have mineral inclusions (light spots or reddish brown veins) that are primarily pyrite or iron oxide that naturally occurs in Elite Shungite. These deposits are harmless, even if you use your stone in water.
Because of its high carbon content your new Shungite piece may shed some black residue on skin, clothing or other surfaces. This is normal and harmless. The residue can easily be washed off most surfaces. Wiping the object with a soft damp cloth will remove any loose carbon dust and minimize this effect
